Compassion

One of the hardest lessons in loving someone is when their actions, their behaviour, comes across as unlovable.

Having clear boundaries about what behaviour you will put up with is vitally important to your well-being, but that doesn't mean you lose compassion for the deeper upset that the others behaviour has brought about.

When we offer compassion and validation to the other person's upset we neutralise our own reactive behaviour along with helping to decrease their upset by not giving them anything to battle against.

Compassion is unconditional love with healthy boundaries. It is not being a pleaser, a victim or a doormat in any way.

It is about standing strong and healthy in one's contained open softness.
