Atargatis is a Mermaid Goddess of Syria. She is the Middle Eastern version of Aphrodite. Primarily, she was a fertility Goddess. Doves and fish were considered sacred to her. Doves are sacred to Aphrodite, and fish are symbolic of the fertility and life of the waters.
