The Christmas Tree Fairy
by Cicely Mary Barker, (1923)

And dwelt in open air;
It did not guess how bright a dress
Some day its boughs would wear;
Brown cones were all, it thought, a tall
And grown-up Fir would bear
As I began to love myself
I found that anguish and
emotional suffering are only
warning signs that I was living
against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is Authenticity.
As I began to love myself
I understood how much
it can offend somebody

"I heard my mother asking the neighbors for salt." But we had salt in the house. I asked her why she was asking the neighbors for salt. And she answered me: —Because our neighbors don't have a lot of money and often they ask us for something.

The coolest thing about her is that when most people just aged, she put in one heck of an effort to heal, to grow and to become confident in her own skin. She questioned everything she was ever taught, she ate that piece of cake when she wanted to,
It’s when the earth shakes
And foundations crumble
That our light is called
To rise up.
It’s when everything falls away
And shakes us to the core
And awakens all
Of our hidden ghosts
That we dig deeper to find
Once inaccessible strength.
It’s in ti
Greed has poisoned men's souls,
has barricaded the world with hate,

We have developed speed,

Misty days are their own kind of beauty.
After over a month of complete closures in all of NC, a few sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway opened this week. Yesterday, I've heard, it was absolutely packed with folks turning out in force to see the co
WELCOME NOVEMBER…
There is something about November that says ‘keep going’.
We are not quite through the year, yet the finish-line looms.
We are plunged into darkness by Mother Nature.
We are faced with the ‘season of joy’,
and yet many of us wonder
THE WITCH WOUND
They call it the ‘witch wound’.
We were punished you see, broken, slain, for shining too brightly.
So we learned to hide that spark.
We learned to play it down, play dumb, play dead.
And we were taught to fear the light within us,
May your Samhain (Halloween) be full of magic from dawn to dusk, where the day brings playful surprises and the night reveals enchanting mysteries. Here’s to a whole day of treats, laughter, and just the right amount of spooky fun!
Halloween is an ancient druidic holiday, one the Celtic peoples have celebrated for millennia. It is the crack between the last golden rays of summer and the dark of winter; the delicately balanced tweak of the year before
If you ever get the chance, go alone. Walk alone, travel alone, live alone, dance alone. Just for a while. If you ever get the chance, learn who you are when the world isn't demanding you be one way or another.

Breakage
by Mary Oliver
I go down to the edge of the sea.
How everything shines in the morning light!
The cusp of the whelk,
the broken cupboard of the clam,
the opened, blue mussels,
moon snails, pale pink and barnacle scarred—
and nothing at all w
Sometimes we love
And our hearts are broken
We dream
And our hopes are shattered
We wish
And our desires are unfulfilled
We give freely
And are left empty-handed
And we care for others
And aren’t loved in return
And those who we once most admired and val
Solitude is a reminder that sometimes, stepping away from the buzz, the constant connections, the stimulation overload is not just a luxury, but a necessity to be brighter and stronger than before.
Solitude isn’t about isolation or loneliness.
It’s
We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand.
But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. W
A love letter from those who have passed on…
Take the love you have for me
And radiate it outwards
Allowing it to touch and impact others
Take the memory you have of me
And use it as a source of inspiration
To live fully, meaningfully and intentionally
Life often feels like a series of unpredictable twists and turns, and in the midst of challenges, it can be hard to see the light ahead. Yet, sometimes, if we pause and look closely, we can catch glimpses of joy peeking through the chaos. Whether
