On Ageing
“Why do these bodies have to age?” you may ask as you see the changes brought about as time marches on. Do you not see the cycles of L.I.F.E. in all of nature? Does not nature cause even that which is not natural to erode and change? LIFE is about change, growth, opportunity. Death is not permanent, dear one. It is a doorway into yet another cycle. This is not tiring or frightening to the soul which enJoys the ebb and flow of experience. See the changes in the body as natural. Celebrate the stories they tell. Wear your costumes with the pride of weathering nature, knowing that storms and bodies come and go, but love never dies. You are an eternal soul-a direct expression of Divine Presence. Attune to that which never changes and appreciate our words all the more.

Frustration serves a purpose. It builds and builds as you try to do things your way or the way you think they are supposed to go, but LIFE is telling you otherwise. And when the frustration builds enough and you give up? There, in those moments of surrender and pause, there is now space for the base state, Joy, to get through to you. “There is a better way,” the inner voice may say. Whether you listen for what else the voice has to say, yes, how intuition speaks to you in the stillness, determines what follows: more frustration or grace.

All Along
Do not forget to talk to those in spirit. Conversations with those you may not be able to see or hear tells the mind, “This is real. This is my reality. Bring on the knowing that I am not alone.” As you converse, the knowing will increase. You will notice the signs and synchronicities of presence. What you had hoped for becomes your reality as your conversations take on a more casual feel instead of needy, for hoping has been replaced with certainty that love never dies. And then, when you eventually join those in spirit, you will celebrate together your trust, faith, and undying love all along.

Mabon Ritual
Items needed: God and Goddess candle "gold and silver," Quarter
candles "Brown, green, orange, and yellow," wine, chalice, salt,
water, incense "Benzoin, myrrh, sage," athame, water bowl, matches,
HPS: Cleanses ritual space with water and salt.
HP: Open altar energies by passing the four elements over the altar
and intoning a personal blessing, then tap the altar five times – one
for each element, and one for the spirit. Say the element after each tap.
HP: Light God and Goddess candles
Raise energy by either chanting or drumming
Ground and Center
Light the God and Goddess candles
Light incense
Greetings all witches, I welcome and thank every one of you for
coming to this Mabon Ritual tonight.
For Mabon is actually the Witches Thanksgiving.
Cast a Circle
starting in the East, place water and salt in the bowl.
Next stir water and salt with the athame.
While doing this slowly turn in a desoil direction until you have come back to East again.
Place athame and bowl with water back on the altar.
I create the boundary of this Holy Circle
Only positive energy and love may come in.
I open myself to the power of Earth and Water.
I feel the ancient might of stone and I hear the thundering of the sea.
I am established as a foundation upon which I build this circle.
I am filled with conviction and faith which purifies this circle of mine.
I open myself to the power of Air and Fire.
I can feel the searing of holy flames and I smell of death and decay in the field.
I am the dancer of destruction moved by the passion that erects this circle.
This Circle is bound
With Power all around
Between the Worlds I stand
With Protection at hand
By the Powers of the ancient Gods
I bind all Power within this Circle
Into this spell
So mote it be!

Invite Deities
I call upon you Morgan, the Crone aspect of the Goddess to be present
on this Holy night.
She who is ever three - Maid, Mother and Crone.
Yet She is ever One
She in all women, and they all in Her.
Look at these three who are one, with fearless love
That you too may be whole.
I now call upon you Mabon the "Great Son" to be present on this Holy
night. For His life represents the innocence of youth, the strength
of survival and the growing wisdom of the elderly.
Statement of Intent
it is a time to honor Deities and the Spirit World. As the days start
to grow colder, the leaves begin to fall off of the trees. Our
Lord of the sun rides the cold winds westward, and the dew of the
night descends on us all. The fruits that we have planted have
ripened and the harvest is finally done. During this time of the
month it is a time of balance, when night equals day, and though all
of Mother Nature seems dead or decaying but life continues onward.
For life is not possible without death; and the coming of winter is
just another phase in the great wheel of life.
Oh Great Goddess of the waning moon, keeper of the cauldron, of
secret magick and forgotten lore, teach me to be wise and peaceful in
thought and deed. Grant me your wisdom.
Either chant or drum to raise the energy once again.
Give offerings to the Lady and the Lord.
Pass the "cup of gratitude" clockwise around the circle to all of its
members at on this Holy Night.
As each person takes it, they speak about what they are thankful for
and once they have spoken of all of their blessings, they drink from
the cup and then pass it on to the next person.

Blessings come in many disguises. That little hiccup that slowed you down? Perhaps you were going too fast. That unkind word that made you flinch? Perhaps it was time to pay attention to your own words. Life is like a mirror. It will reflect back to you what most needs attention. Oh, you may balk at this thought, but do look closely when life sends you messages. They do not always mean you are wrong. They are reminders that you face choices in every moment. Rather than gliding inattentively through each moment, look for the disguised blessings.

Where Attention Goes
In your home are many rooms. Perhaps you spend most of your day in the living room, yet occasionally you become aware of noise in the attic. Yes, it is as if someone has left a radio on there and from time to time you hear the whisperings. For the most part, you shut it out, for you know the source. Yet, when you wish to, you can shift your attention to those subtle sounds from beyond the room you are in and acknowledge them. As you do so, the signal seems louder and more clear. And that is how it goes with those you love who have passed, dear one. It is a matter of where you place your attention most of the time. Shift your awareness and what do you find? They have been playing all along, here in the one shared mind.

Balancing
There is no shame in getting out of balance. Keep in mind that imbalance can go in either direction from the center: either quite down and depressed or quite high and elated. Neither is “wrong” and yet there is a sharpness or dullness that feels quite “off” compared to the soul’s natural, luminous state. You are here to experience all of life. And so, you experience a particular high or low. What happens next is the pendulum swings to the other end of the spectrum. It is the familiar “What goes up must come down” and vice versa. Ride the wave with awareness and you will not fall off the swing. Bide your time with compassion and self-care and as you do so you will feel yourself settling into the state that lies at the center: peace and contentment.
