Great Queen, Lady of the Reaping,

When Birth from Death follows

Dark Moon Ritual to Honor the Goddess Hecate
Correspondences for the Goddess Hecate:
Associated Planet: Moon, Mercury
Element: Earth
Color: Black, Green, Silver, Red
Associated Symbol: Knife / Torch
Element: Water
Sacred Herbs / Plants: Willow, Yew, Belladonna, Black Poppy, Almond, Lavender, Mugwort, Myrrh, Mint and Mandrake.
Sacred Animals: Dogs, Owls, Crows, Ravens, Frogs, Snakes and Dragons.
Sacred Symbols: Torches, Keys, Rope, Dagger, Cauldron, Broom

All her festivities and ceremonies must take place after dark, only form of illumination must be candles or torches.
Last day of each month is dedicated to Her.
Sacred Places: Crossroads, specifically three way crossroads.
Special Offerings: Suppers are consumed outside under the dark moon at crossroads. One plate of food was set out for Hecate, whatever you offer to her cannot be reclaimed, it should be left there. Once the offering is laid down, you should leave without looking back. Hecate will decide who gets the offering… homeless who come across the plate of food or stray animals. It’s how Hecate accepts offerings. The typical Hecate’s supper menu may include… Honey, Pomegranate. eggs, goat or sheep cheese, red mullet, garlic, mushrooms
Ritual:
You will need:
Candles: 1 black Goddess (Hecate) 1 Black 1 white 1 Red for the Triple Goddess and one each of yellow, red, blue, brown for elementals...
Incense: Lavender, Myrrh, Willow
Offerings: (Cakes & Ale) a dark red wine is my favorite, but anything to drink really...and you must bring a meal, and eat some of it, leaving a plate for Hecate...
Altar Decorations: black cats, owls, wolves, ravens, and black stones if you have them.
First you must always clear the sacred space with a Ritual Sweep of your Besom (going widdershins)

Drawing Down the Moon:
Invocation to the Dark Goddess Hecate.
"I call upon She who unveils the mystery,
Ancient Crone, Hecate, who reigns as darkness falls upon the unlit sky
Queen of Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld.
Hecate, this is your time, Eternal Goddess, Lady of the Night.
I have prepared this sacred Circle for you, O Wise One,

O gracious Queen of Witches
As I do perform this Rite in your honor."
(Imagine the Dark Moon and see this haze descending from the moon into you. Feel Her slowly envelope you, starting at the top of your head and slowly moving down to your feet. Feel this vibrating energy of the Goddess Hecate fill your very being. When Her energies reach your feet, know that you are walking as Hecate, as She is you and you are She.

If you wish to do magick to banish negativity, poverty, unhappiness, etc., or do a protection spell, or add a protection spell to an Amulet/Talisman this would be the time to do it. If someone has harmed you, and you need justice, now would be the time to call upon Hecate for this as well...

(Place the plate of food & cup of drink that you have brought for Hecate aside as an offering to her... Eat from your plate & drink from your cup. remember, this offering to Hecate must be placed where homeless people or animals can eat from it, if you are inside, set the dishes outside of your backdoor)
~ You can now meditate, perform any divination work you have planned, or simply sit back and relax. Remember eating of the cakes helps ground you from the energy of the circle, and from the cone of power that you built if you did magick ~
