This was the flowering of my soft pink Hoya Carnosa from last year..
they can live for 30 odd years if tended to properly, they flower when root bound,so one cant really fail growing this indoor plant they are so hardy,they even prefer to be rootbound and dry,so dont change the pot that often & dont over water as the get root rot easy.
They are reaching huge prices over here, some rare ones going for $1,800 per plant, just crazy..but its cos the flower is so pretty & smells divine.
this picture below is what my other hoya's flower colour will eventually be like, I cant wait..this plant would be well over 20yrs old though,mine hasnt reached a year yet..
Hopefully one day it will look like this one in the picture below,gees thats beautiful..just not in another 7yrs,for some reason it was like in a dormant state,no new leaves or anything, then suddenly it awoke and sprouted new branches,leaves and now flowers.I think the soil it was in was just useless to it and not supporting it in any way,but after changing its soil, and feeding it with ferilizer then a few months latter bam away it went in full force..well thats what I think but I cant be certain im no real gardener,just trial & error,but seem to have a green thumb..least it didnt die on me,they are so expensive to purchase over here..you will pay NZ$10.00 for just a small branch cutting..now my other hoya's I have no problems with,both are thriving big time and are large plants,one has flowered 3 times, the other is still young but should flower next year..they are broad leaf canosa varieties,ones pick flowers with red centre,the other one is crimson flowered...
