Invitation to Live Karen Storminger
When I was young,
They said,
“You're too fat.”
So I starved myself
“You're laugh is too loud.”
So I quieted my joy
“You're too bossy.”
So I stepped back behind others
“You're too smart.”
So I hid my thoughts
“You're expecting too much.”
So I walked away...
And I made myself small
And the years passed by
And Silver strands began to weave through my head
And I heard the whispers on the wind
Then, Goddess said,
“You are as I made you”
So I Nourished my body and soul
“Let me hear your voice.”
So I Let loose my joy
“I need leaders to do my work”
So I Stepped forward and Took charge of my life
“Women of wisdom change the world.”
So I Spoke my mind
“I expect much of you”
So I accepted her invitation, and began to live
